Blogger Relaunched

Blogger redesigned their site today, with some big changes. The most visible and welcome change is the much more visually attractice CSS-based design. But new look aside, I’m not sure I like the changes I see.

The front page (at least on day one of the new launch) is very much focused on getting new signups for Blogger, and (unlike the previous version) does nothing to showcase the blogs hosted on Blogger. The previous Blogger front page used to have a “fresh blogs” list and a “blogs of note” list that served to introduce readers to new blogs.

The new focus now seems to be on getting more wannabe web-publishers to sign up, and I’m not sure that’s a good thing.
