Update on the dead website

Well, I’ve migrated what remains of savedelete to this server, and switched from Movabletype 2.64 to WordPress along the way.

Reason for switching to WordPress: MovableType was giving me a bunch of Perl module configuration problems because this server ( a Yahoo server) has some security measures in place that limit “standard” webserver functions. At least I think that’s what’s been causing all the problem. (example: I had to reconfigure MT’s files to end in .pl because Yahoo doesn’t support the .cgi extension).

I had MT up and (sortof) running on this server, but kept getting “object reference” and Hash errors, so I gave up. WordPress runs on PHP (a familiar language), is relatively lightweight, and supports fast updates as a result of dynamic page generation. No more “rebuilding” files.

WordPress was also incredibily easy to install, and supports importing and exporting of entries, which is nice.

Since I’m sorta new to WordPress, it’s going to take a bit before I get this site to do everything I want it to, but I should be back to normal relatively soon.

So sorry to hear about your webhost problems. The same thing happened to me not too long ago.

I’ve been enjoying using WordPress. It is very easy to configure. Hopefully, you’ll have some better luck with it than you had with MT.

Cool. Sorry You lost so much. I spose you could check the wayback machine and see if they archived it. I like wordpress. If I weren’t hooked on drupal i’d definitely be using it. I didn’t really like the theme engine but drupal’s needs some work too. They’re both extremely active communities too.
