Backing up your del.icio.us bookmarks

Since so many people don’t know about it, I’ll repeat it here. You can back up your del.icio.us bookmarks by navigating to [http://del.icio.us/api/posts/recent?count=10000](http://del.icio.us/api/posts/recent?count=10000), logging in, and saving the resulting (blank) page to your machine as type XML.
After you save, open the file in Notepad or another text editor.

Laptop power issues solved using a port replicator

As [mentioned previously](http://trainque.com/index.php/2005/03/15/damn-laptop-power-problems/), I have been having some problems with my Compaq Presario 2100 laptop’s power supply lately. The problem was that when I plugged in a power source into the back of my laptop, my laptop wouldn’t recognize that a power source was plugged in. As a result, the light in the front wouldn’t […]

A Directory Of Programs Designed For USB Drives

Jeremy has posted a great list of applications optimized for USB drives.
I just recently got a thumbdrive, and now (thanks to these optimized apps) I can use Firefox, Sunbird, Thunderbird, and more where ever I go. Geektastic!

Flickr acquired by Yahoo

Not sure if this is good news or not, but Flickr has announced that they have been purchased by Yahoo. Hopefully this won’t mean many changes in the way Flickr works.
On thing I’m curious about, being a Flickr Pro account holder:
> Pro account holders will get super mega bonuses, to be announced soon.

Damn laptop power problems

So my Compaq Presario is experiencing some power issues. In a nutshell, it won’t accept power from the main power cord. The light doesn’t go on indicating that it’s charging, and since the battery won’t charge it’s basically unusable.
I know the problem isn’t with the battery, because with some fiddling I used to be […]

WTF were you thinking, Boink Magazine?

Yeah, so I was in Newbury Comics earlier today and saw that they had a copy of the [much-talked about](http://www.fleshbot.com/sex/straight/amateur/boink-magazine-032249.php) first issue of [Boink magazine](http://get-boinked.com/) on sale.
For those who are unfamiliar, Boink is the controversial porn magazine created by some students at Boston University. The magazine calls itself “the college guide to carnal knowledge.”
Not […]

Attending a one-day course by Edward Tufte

I found out today that in a few weeks I’m going to able to attend a one-day course taught by the master of statistical data representation, [Edward Tufte](http://www.edwardtufte.com), being held the last week of March in Boston.
For those who are unfamiliar with his work, Tufte is an expert on graphs and data. From his […]

Google text ads added to this site, and that’s okay

So I’ve decided to go back to hosting Google Ads. I took them down for a while, because I was undecided on whether hosting ads was something I wanted to do on my personal website, but (as you can see on the right) they are back.
Some people may say that ads don’t belong on […]
