Wifi Connections in Boston

Since getting my new Powerbook, I’ve found myself surfing wirelessly thoughout Boston a lot lately. The good news is that most everywhere I’ve powered up my laptop I’ve been able to get online due to the city’s many open WiFi connections. I’ve found most wifi connections are not password protected (aka WEP-enabled), which is nice. Here are some notable places where you can get online for free:

* **Harvard Square, in the grassy area near Pete’s coffee** - Due to the many Harvard dorms in the area, there are plenty of open-node WiFi connections.

* **Harvard Square, at Au Bon Pain** - Jump on Harvard’s WiFi connection using the username *visitor* and the password *visitor*

* **Newbury Street, near the Boston Architectural Center** - There are tons of open nodes throughout Newbury street, as is expected with all the shops.

* **Copley Square, in the Westin Hotel** - You might need to go inside to get a signal, but the Westin Hotel offers wifi to its guests and visitors. Log in using the name *wireless*, the password *wireless* and the room *lobbymyy* where “m” is the current month and “yy” is the current year (e.g. *lobby605* for June 2005)

* **O’Natural’s, near Davis Square** - free wifi, no login required
