This past Friday night I was able to check out [Prefuse 73](http://www.prefuse73.com/) at the Middle East in Cambridge.
Apparently Scott and co. were running into some technical difficulties. They announced that something was broken, and so they had to change their set a bit. While I couldn’t see exactly what was the matter, it […]
Just recently set up a [last.fm account](http://www.last.fm/user/jarrodtrainque) (formerly Audioscrobbler) to keep track of some music-related statistics.
Here’s how it works: you sign up and download a plugin that tracks what you listen to, and automagically posts the data to your last.fm account.
Organizing is done by tagging your music (like flickr, del.icio.us, etc).
Once your account is […]

Just noticed this today: If you search google for “answer to life, the universe, and everything”, Google calculator responds with:
> answer to life, the universe, and everything = 42
This answer comes from the Douglas’ Adam’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe.
> According to the Hitchhiker’s Guide, researchers from a pan-dimensional, hyper-intelligent race of beings, […]

I got an email today from Ebo Eppenga saying he ported my Simple List Script to Outlook web access.
> By doing this I can fill the to-do list from anywhere around the globe and open it in my Outlook, just as easy!

As far as I know, this is the first […]

*A man walks into a talent agency…*
This past weekend I went to see the documentary movie [The Aristocrats](http://imdb.com/title/tt0436078/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnx0dD0xfGZiPXV8cG49MHxrdz0xfHE9dGhlIGFyaXN0b2NyYXRzfGZ0PTF8bXg9MjB8bG09NTAwfGNvPTF8aHRtbD0xfG5tPTE_;fc=1;ft=20;fm=1).
Background: Among comedians, there’s this inside joke where the punchline is “The Aristocrats.” It’s not a particularly funny joke, but it has evolved into somewhat of an in-joke within comedian circles.
What makes this joke interesting is that […]

Originally uploaded by jarrodtrainque.
This weekend I checked out one of those self-cleaning public toilets in Copley Square, Boston. This one was on Boylston street, near the Boston Public Library.
Contrary to the picture, it was actually quite pleasant-smelling and clean.
Verdict: a […]
