What I’m currently listening to

Just recently set up a last.fm account (formerly Audioscrobbler) to keep track of some music-related statistics.

Here’s how it works: you sign up and download a plugin that tracks what you listen to, and automagically posts the data to your last.fm account.

Organizing is done by tagging your music (like flickr, del.icio.us, etc).

Once your account is populated with enough data, last.fm gets useful. It leverages the social element to do some cool things:

  • locating “neighbors” (people with similar musical tastes as you).
  • locating similar artists & groups to the stuff you already like

Oh, and you can listen to music too. Very cool: the ability to listen to “stations” centered around a specific tag.

My account is here: http://www.last.fm/user/jarrodtrainque

You can also put the last tracks you listened to in your blog too. I just posted how here:
