take care of your customers, or else…

Thomas Hawk had a bad experience with an online retailer, PriceRitePhoto, and so he wrote about it on his blog.
What happens? His story becomes the #1 story on digg, makes it to http://del.icio.us/popular, gets Slashdotted & MetaFiltered.
The store gets slammed with phone calls, bad press online, and their site goes down due to the excessive traffic.
In other words, a relatively small issue becomes a really bad situation for a company.
Moral: Take care of your online customers, and don’t underestimate the power of one.
