Replacing dots with images via CSS, for domain hacks
Posted 2 years, 11 months ago - No comments yet
Domain hacks such as http://del.icio.us are getting rather popular. I mean, what’s not to like about a domains like http://cyb.org, http://burri.to, http://intra.net, or http://clari.net?
Personally, I think domain hacks are a neat way to gain online brand recognition and score yourself a fun, meaningful domain (especially since all the good .coms are taken).
The problem with domain hacks is that the interruption of the target word can be unsightly and awkward. Over time, the domain hacks gimmick could get old, unless care is taken to keep the domain hack-based branding fresh.
Here’s one idea: Replace the dots with stars using a touch of CSS. Here’s how to do it.
