Yahoo! redesigns home page

The most-trafficked site on the net, Yahoo!, unveiled a redesigned homepage today, which looks to be a tremendous improvement over the previous site.

The new look is wider, cleaner looking, and employs nifty Ajax-style functionality than the past.

Just what did Yahoo look like over the years? CNet has a picture history of Yahoo’s homepage transformation over the past 12 years.

It’s fascinating to see how they went from a text-only interface, to graphics, to multiple columns, all the way to where they are today. It’s also interesting to see how their direction slowly shifted from a directory to a multipurpose portal site.
