At long last - a new site theme

I’ve been working on it for too long already, but it’s kinda-sorta-done: the new site theme you now see before you (that is, if you aren’t reading a syndicated version of this).

Why change? I wanted a homepage that did the following:

  • integrated del.icio.us
  • integrated flickr
  • was easier to read on high resolution monitors
  • highlighted RSS feed syndications
  • had a chunky-ass footer
  • had more Adsense potential
  • had less crap on the home page
  • had colors to match the new business cards
  • highlighted the most recent post

And this is what I came up with. Portions of this new layout were heavily inspired by the amazing work of Michael at http://www.whalesalad.com.

I still realize I have a lots of tweaks to make to get this the way I want it, so hopefully it’ll slowly evolve over time. The markup, for example, is a total mess and the CCS isn’t much better. But I figured I’d launch the new look anyway..

Also: It’s scary how much you forget when you’ve been away from CCS for such a long time.

Update: I just viewed this new theme in Internet Explorer for the first time. Pleh! I clearly have a lot of work to do. I’d apologize to all of you using IE… but when I think about it, it’s your fault as much as it is mine.

Thanks for reminding me to check out the new Sonic Heart design in IE. I always forget.

Love the new theme! Can you scan a business card to flickr? I’d like to see what you’ve got - I’m designing business cards right now.
